Our little bundle of joy was born on Monday morning, July 19, 2010, at 7:48 a.m. He was teeny tiny!!! Here are some pictures from the hospital. We are home today and everyone is doing fine. Ian lost a little bit of weight at the hospital, but is eating really well. He should be gaining it back soon. Overall, all is well. Samantha loves being a big sister and is really helpful (a little too helpful). She loves holding him and giving him hugs and kisses. She is such a good big sister. Love to all!

BIG NEWS!

We went to the doctor today and found out that we are having a BOY in July. Samantha is getting a little brother! We are very excited about this news. I thought I would share it with all of you!

One + One = TWO!

I thought I would share our exciting news with those of you who don't already know. We are expecting again!!! Samantha will be three in March, and we will be having a new little one in July. We are so excited! I am in my 13^th week and we have already been to the doctor twice. At 9 weeks, we were able to see the baby's heartbeat with an ultrasound. We went back yesterday and were able to hear the heartbeat. He/she is growing normally and everything is going great.

This pregnancy is so different than with Samantha. It is really like night and day. With Sammi I was so sick all the time. With this one, the sickness is manageable and not that often. Yesterday, our doctor told us that at our next appointment, he will be able to tell the sex of the baby. That is only four weeks away! I keep asking Sam if she wants a little brother or sister, and the answer changes daily. I think she will just be so happy to have a baby in our home. I will keep you all posted!!!

Christmas 2009

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. Sammi finally understood what Santa was all about. She was so excited for him to come and leave her gifts. Whenever she heard to doorbell ring, she always thought it was him. She would run to the door and say, "It's Santa! It's Santa!" Of course, we tried to teach Samantha what Christmas was really about. I think she understood a little bit better when we went to Temple Square in downtown Salt Lake. We took her to see the Christus and she was excited to see Jesus. She kept saying "Jesus! He is all white." Christmas morning, Samantha was excited to discover Santa had come and left her a little kitchen. She loves it and loves pretending to make us food to eat.
Overall, we had a delightful Christmas spending time with family and loved ones. We enjoyed the special spirit Christmas brought into our home and hearts. We hope each of you had a wonderful Christmas this year.

Sorry it has taken me forever to update our blog. This is our Thanksgiving picture with all the Lindeman grandkids. We had such a fun time at my parents house this year for Thanksgiving. My brother Neil and my sister Laura were in town and we were all together. We even had family pictures taken. It was a blast to just spend some time with family and catch up.

Happy Halloween

We had an awesome Halloween this year. We were a family of bees. Stef was our Queen Bee with Kyle as the Worker Bee and Samantha our little Honeybee. Samantha was finally old enough to understand what trick-or-treating was all about. She was such a trooper walking from house to house. She did get tired after a while and asked to ride in the stroller. She got more candy than she needed and had a great time.

Pack's Pumpkin Patch

A couple of weeks ago, we went to Pack's Pumpkin Patch with Grandma & Grandpa Lindeman and Aunt Val. Samantha had so much fun. She mostly just wanted to run through the maze they had for kids and didn't really care about picking out a pumpkin. Once we dragged her away from the maze, she finally decided it was pumpkin picking time. Just like last year, she loved riding in the cart while daddy searched for pumpkins. She was so excited to take her own pumpkin home.

Sammi's First Haircut

During the first of July, I was trying to give Sammi a haircut. Note the word try! I have cut her bangs a couple of times and was trying to do so again. While I was cutting them, she moved and I cut them crooked. It was a disaster. So I called for an appointment at Cookie Cutters and took her there. She was due for a full haircut anyway. The lady who cut her hair gave me some grief about attempting to cut her hair, and told me to never to it again. I tried to tell her that I have cut her hair 2 times before without any problem. It is just that I have a toddler who hates to sit still. So, here is Sammi's first official haircut.

4th of July

We had a blast on the 4th of July. We went the parade in Centerville. Then we had a BBQ at our house. Later, we went to a BBQ at my parent's house. Sammi had so much fun playing with all of her cousins.

Father's Day

It has been a long, long, long time since I updated our blog. Sorry everyone!!! Life has been really crazy since May. We moved to a cute, little house in Bountiful. It is an older home that was built in the 1940's, but has been updated. The entry way, living room, and dining room have wood flooring. The kitchen is updated with newer stove, dishwasher, and fridge. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Upstairs is Samantha's room, office, and bathroom. Downstairs is the master bedroom, bathroom, huge family room, storage room, and laundry room. We have a pretty big yard outside which Samantha loves! I don't particularly love the yard work, but am getting used to all the weeding and mowing. We love living here and are actually renting the house from some good friends while Kyle is back in school. We may end up buying the house in a year, but are still undecided. And yes, Kyle is back in school. With the current economic struggles, it was a good time for us to look at our future and think about more schooling. We looked at many options including getting an MBA, a Master's in teaching, and a Computer Science degree. We decided that Computer Science was the best choice for Kyle. He loves computers and is quite good at fixing, updating, and maintaining them. So Kyle is back in school finishing a second Bachelors in Computer Science. This will take about 2 years to complete. I hope I can make it that long! As for me, I am still at home trying to keep up with my 2 year old. Samantha is a delight and a challenge, as most 2 year olds are. She is speaking so much now--in full complete sentences. She loves to sing and will sing all day long. Some of her new songs she has learned are "I am a Child of God", "The Wise man Built his House upon the Rock", "The Itsy, Bitsy Spider", and "Jesus wants me for a Sunbeam". Sammi still loves to be outside and will ask all day long to go to the park. She also loves to read and pick out new books at the library. Her new thing is drawing and coloring. She will color on everything: the walls, kitchen table, floor, windows, TV, doors, etc. And of course she gets in trouble for it, but always does it again. She is such a silly girl and we love her, on most days...

Race for the Cure 2009

Last Saturday, we did the Race for the Cure for Breast Cancer. It is a 5k race in downtown SLC. This year, all of Kyle's siblings and their kids did the race (expect for Craig who lives in Texas). We had T-shirts made for all the Grandkids that said, "Racing for Grandma". Kyle's mom has been a breast cancer survivor for 15 years. After the race, she participates in the Survivor Parade with all the other breast cancer survivors. This year was particularly emotional because the week before, we found out that her cancer is back and in the fourth stage. The doctors are being optimistic and telling her that even though it is in the fourth stage, the cancer is still treatable. This week she has already undergone radiation treatments and will soon be doing chemotherapy. We are all praying for the best and hoping that she will recover. We just can't live without our Grandma!

Mother's Day 2009

Here are some pictures from Mother's Day. Kyle gave me some cute decorations to go into our new place. Sammi was not very happy at church. I felt bad for Kyle because he ended up spending most of Church in the foyer chasing Sam. Oh well, at least I enjoyed Church! As tradition, we tried to take some pictures of me and Sammi. And as usual, she hated taking the pictures and tried to run away from the camera. Overall, a pretty normal Mother's Day.

Easter

We had a fun and beautiful Easter holiday. We went to a couple of Easter Egg hunts which Sammi loved. She especially loved finding chocolate in the eggs. The day before Easter, Sammi got a huge black eye. She was jumping on our bed (I know, I know, she shouldn't have been jumping on the bed!) when she tripped, fell, and ran smack into our foot board. The corner barely missed her eye and in a few hours, her eye was purple and almost swollen shut. Poor Sammers! She went to church the next day wearing her beautiful spring dress, but everyone just noticed her eye. Sammers had another black eye just a few weeks before that and it was almost healed when she got this one. We took her to the park on a Saturday morning, and she was headed up the stairs to the slide when she fell and smacked her head into the stairs. We had no idea what happened until she came down the slide crying. Oh well. I guess this stage will pass. In the mean time, please no calls to child services!!! And as for Sammi, no more monkeys jumpin' on the bed!

Samantha's Birthday

Here are a couple of slideshows of Sammi's 2nd birthday. We had such a fun time this year. We had a birthday party the Sunday before with her cousins Jace and Max. On Sammi's birthday, we took her to the park for lunch and out to dinner at Chuck E. Cheese with the Lindemans. The day after her birthday, Kyle and I took her to the Treehouse Museum in Ogden where she had a blast. Thank you friends and family for all the wonderful gifts and for making Sammi's birthday such a fun event. We love you!

Sammi is so weird sometimes. For a couple of months she always opened the drawer in our computer desk, would load it up with stuff and then get in and play. One of her favorite things to do in her drawer is to draw. I guess it was just her size.

Sammerisms

Our sweet Samantha turns 2 years old today! Happy Birthday Sam! I can't believe it. Two years really went by fast. Anyway, I thought it would be fun to post some of the funny things she says we call "Sammerisms". Here you go:

Jace, no, no!
Her cousin Jace is a week older than Sammi and whenever they play together, she loves to boss him around. She will follow him around and when he does something he shouldn't, she says in a very stern voice, "Jace, no, no!" This just makes us laugh because when Kyle was young his first sentance was, "No Keri, no!" Keri is Jace's mom and Kyle's sister. Like father, like daughter...

Oh Crap!
A couple of weeks ago, Sammi dropped something and said, "Oh crap!" Kyle and I just looked at each other and busted up laughing. I guess we have been using the "C" word a little too much lately. Since then we have been really careful about what we say around Sammi. The other day we were eating dinner with Kyle's parents and his dad was watching a BYU basketball game. The players made a bad play and he yells, "Oh CRAP!". Then Sammi goes, "Oh crap. . . crap, crap, crap." She also says "Oh shoot," and even one time said "flip, flip, flip!"

I gotcha Daddy!
Sometimes when Kyle picks up Sammi and carries her, she puts her arms around him and says, "I gotcha Daddy!"

Thank you much!
Whenever Sammi hands me something or if I give her something she needs, she says, "Thank you much!"

Awww Hugs
Sammi loves to give you hugs. She will often run up to you and throw her arms around you and say, "Awww hugs."

I gee (give) you pat-pats
When Sammi is crying and I hold her and pat her back, she sometimes pats my back and say, "I gee you pat-pats."

I'm comin' slide.
The other day I took Sammi to the park. She was climbing the stairs to get to the slide and she said, "I'm comin' slide!"

Ready to pray.
When we sit down to dinner or any meal, Sammi will automatically fold her arms and say "Ready to pray." Then she stairs at us while we are praying (she hasn't quite got the bow your head and close your eyes thing down). After we are done, she says "Amen!" Sometimes she has to pray 2 or 3 times before she is satisfied and will eat her dinner. The other day in Church after we had the opening prayer, she yelled really loud, "AMEN!"

Stinky Diaper!
When Sammi poops in her diaper, she will come get you and say, "stinky diaper" or "stinky pants". Then when I am changing her, she says, "Ewww, yucky. Gross."

Daddy bye-bye?
In the mornings when Sam gets up, she usually notices if Kyle is gone. Then she looks at me and says in a sad voice, "Daddy bye-bye?". Then when Kyle gets home from work, she always runs to him and says, "Daddy! Daddy home!"

Mommy, where'r you?
The other day, Sammi had woken up from her nap and was just talking in her crib. Then I heard her say, "Mommy, where'r you? Mommy, where'r you?" I just laughed because she hasn't ever said that before. I think she has been hanging around her cousin Ammon too much.

Oh, I'm funny!
Sometimes Sammi will be playing and she will just start laughing for no reason. Then she says, "Oh, I'm funny!"

B' careful!
When Sammi falls down or trips, she says, "You okay? B' careful!"

Garbage jumped
Sammi hasn't figured out the word fall yet and so everything jumps. She likes to jump off of the couch, which is scary unless we put pillows down. We have to watch her because she jumps anyway and says, "I jumped." She says jumped in this weird voice that is deeper than the rest of the words. The other day she threw a metal garbage can down the stairs which was really loud and then yells down, "Garbage jumped!"

Tickle Piggies
Sammi loves her little piggy toes. Sometimes she will tickle her toes and say, "Tickle piggies! Tickle piggies!"

Teasing Danpa (Grandpa Worsley)
Sammi loves to tease her Danpa. Her favorite thing to do to tease him is run to his kitchen chair and throw off his chair pad. Then she runs off laughing. Sometimes she will grab it and try to hide it or throw it down the stairs. She stands there and waits until he notices her stealing it. Danpa always throws a big fuss which makes her laugh even more.

Chocolate Milk
When we ask her what she wants to eat, she usually says, "Chocolate Milk!" It's all Grandpa Lindeman's fault, he got her addicted.

Pretty Hair
Sammi likes to get my hair brush out to brush her hair. While she is doing it, she says, "Oh pretty. Pretty hair."

Samantha...
When she does something she knows she shouldn't, she says her name in the exact tone of voice I use when she is in trouble.

Mote (remote)
Sammi is obsessed with watching her shows which includes Backyardigans, Dora the Explorer, Go Deigo Go, Tinkerbell and Curious George. She will often go get the "mote" and hand it to you so she can watch something. The other day, she wanted to watch something and I told her no and took the remote away. She then went downstairs and got the other remote, brought it all the way upstairs and was trying to turn on the TV. Is my kid addicted or what?

Shhhh, shhh, secret!
For all you parents out there who have their kids watch Backyardigans, you know that this is one of the episodes called "Secret Mission". Sammi loves this episode and goes around whispering Shhh, Shhh, secret. . . shhh, shhh, secret mission!

Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star
Sammi loves music and to sing. This is probably her favorite song and when she sings it, it sounds like this:

Oh where, oh where has my gallbladder gone? Oh where, oh where could it be....

For those of you who didn't hear, I (this is Stefanie) had my gallbladder removed a week ago today. I have been having gallstone attacks for about 18 months. They usually come in the middle of the night and I will be in intense pain for several hours. The attacks have come and gone for a period of several months, but recently have been worse. I had a serious gallstone attack a couple of weekends ago, and another that following Monday. So I went to Instacare that Monday to find out what the problem was. They did an ultrasound on my gallbladder and found that I had several stones. Then they scheduled me for surgery the next day.

A week has gone by and I am doing great. I still have pain, but it is so much better than last week. I had a follow-up appointment on Monday and the doctor said I am healing well.

The hard part is that I haven't been able to lift anything, including Sammi, for a week and won't be able to for another week. So that meant double duty for Kyle. He has been great, though, and has not complained at all. He has definitely turned into Mr. Mom by changing all of her diapers, feeding her, bathing her, and putting her to bed each night. I have also had major help from his mom. I don't think I could have gone through this without either of them. She has helped in getting Sammi up everyday and taking care of her while Kyle is at work.

Hopefully by next week, things will be back to normal and I will be a full-time mom again.

Christmas 2008

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. Sammi wore her new Christmas dress to church the Sunday before. We had a fun Christmas party at Grandma & Grandpa Worsley's house where we did the Christmas program, played fun games, exchanged gifts and the kids got new pajamas from Grandma. On my side of the family, all of my sibings were in-town together for the first time in over 2 years. We were able to see my adorable new nephew, Peter, for the first time and the kids performed the Christmas program at my brother's house on Christmas Eve. We got tons of presents and Sammi got a new slide from Santa. And through it all, we remembered the importance of this beautiful holiday: the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ. And we thought of our dear family and friends who do so much for us and give us the love and support we need. We hope all of you had a wonderful Christmas.

Gingerbread Houses

This is a fun tradition that my parents started this year. We all gathered around a couple of weeks ago and make gingerbread houses. It wasn't too hard since we bought the kits to make them and they tell you exactly how to do it-down to the last gumdrop. Aunt Crystal was a pro and whipped her's out before any of us was done. Aunt Val, well she didn't do too hot. Her's looked more like a kid made it instead of an adult. We all teased her about it. Kyle did a pretty good job. Of course Sammi ended up eating the candy and not really helping.

I'm dreaming of a white Christmas.....

We were so excited for the snow the other day that we decided to bundle Sammi up and take her outside. This was her first time playing in the snow and she loved it! One of the first things she did was dip her head down and lick the snow. We just laughed. She loved sledding and couldn't get enough of it. She did have a struggle walking through the snow and fell down often.

Worsley Halloween Party

We had a blast this year at the party. Sammi and I dressed up as witches and Kyle was a wizard. I spent a lot of time making his costume and it turned out great. Sammi had so much fun playing with her cousins and eating candy. Thanks to everyone for making it a great party.

We went to a Halloween Party at our friend Hailey's house. It was so much fun! We played games, ate treats, and just had a blast. Thanks Hailey for having such a fun party and inviting us. Sammi and I went as witches.

We took Sammi to Pack's Pumpkin Patch for the first time this year. We had tons of fun picking out our pumpkins. She loved the little maze for the kids and playing in the pumpkin patch.

Family Pics

Kyle and I have discovered an awesome photographer in our ward. It is our good friend Megan Triplett and she did a great job of taking our family pictures a couple of weeks ago. They turned out great despite the fact that Sammi had fallen in a mud puddle at the beginning and was crying the rest of the photo shoot. I kinda felt bad for Megan that Sam was in such a bad mood, but she was a life saver by feeding her Smarties during the shoot. Here are some of our favorites.

Tantrums

So ever since Sammi turned about 15 months, she has been throwing tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants. I think most of it is because she just doesn't understand that she can't do certain things like play in the garbage can. Anyway, whenever I say "no", she throws a fit because she knows she is in trouble. She usually bangs her head on the wall (I am serious, she really does this) or throws herself on the floor and screams. We talked to her doctor about it and he said that this was normal. He told us to just ignore the behavior and it should get better. Well, the other day she threw a huge tantrum at the park. I took her there to get out of the house and she was having such a fun time. There were a couple of other moms with kids there and she was having a blast playing with them. Well, she spotted the drinking fountain and wanted a drink. I gave her one and she decided she wanted to play in it. I let her a little bit and soon her clothes were soaked. So I put her down. She still wanted to play with the water, and I told her "no". So she threw a huge fit in front of all the moms and kids. She threw herself on the cement floor and just screamed. I was so embarassed. All the moms were looking at her and me. One of the moms told me I was handeling the tantrum well. So after a few minutes of this, I decided we were going home. Then she didn't want to get in her stroller and threw a big fit over that! I eventually made her get in and took her home. I was so embarassed!
So I just wanted to give a big hats off to all the moms who have to deal with toddlers throwing fits in public! I know exactly how you feel and honestly, I don't know if it gets any better. And those of you who have kids that are not toddlers yet, all I have to say is watch out!

Sammi & Ammon

Last Sunday, we had a family dinner at the Worsley's. We were all playing games when we heard Sammi and her cousin, Ammon, just laughing in the living room. I went to see what they were doing and they were dumping the newspapers on the floor and just laughing. Sammi would dump the papers and Ammon would yell "snowballs!". Then they would both laugh and laugh. What a couple of nuts! They had the best time playing.

(Notice Sammi is just in her diaper because minutes earlier she had dumped her milk and dinner all over her and the floor. This is her new thing that we are trying to fix.)

A toddler left to play in their room = disaster!

A couple of weeks ago, Kyle and I were watching a movie in the next room while Sammi played in her room. When we went to check on her, this is what we found. She had dumped all of her books on the floor, pulled out her drawers and dumped her clothes, and threw her shoes all over. Can we say AAARRRRGGGG! When is this stage going to be over?!

She even started in the bathroom. Luckily we caught the culprit before she could do more.

Another Update

Well, we went to the burn unit again today and Sammi's hands are healed enough that she doesn't have to wear any bandages! We were so excited! The important thing now is to continue with the physical therapy so the new skin doesn't tighten up. We go back in about 3 weeks. Other than that, she is doing great! Thanks again for all the love and support during this time!

Burn Update

I thought I would update everyone on Sammi's condition. We went last week for a follow-up appointment at her pediatrician's. When he took off the bandages, her hands didn't look pretty good. In fact, they looked horrible! But the doctor said that her hands would look worse than they are. Her palms and fingers were all white from being in the bandage. And where she was burned worse on her palms was just red and raw. But he said that was a good sign and actually looked healthy. After looking at her hands, he realized that the burn was a little deeper than he anticipated and told us that we should follow-up at a burn unit. He refered us to the burn unit at Lakeview Hospital, but we decided to go to the U of U. I hear they are the best in the state. So we had an appointment there Thursday afternoon and her hands looked A LOT better! I was very happy. Her skin underneath didn't look so red and you could see a healthy pink layer growing. All of her fingers looked pretty much healed so we don't need to cover them up anymore. The concern is just the palms where she was burned the worse. The doctor gave us instructions to wash her palms (preferably during a bath) and then apply ointment and new bandages twice a day. Also, we have to do physical therapy twice a day where we take her fingers and bend them back as far as they can go and hold it for 2-3 minutes. This is so the skin that heals will not get stiff and that she won't end up loosing any mobility in her hands. And, of course, she hates it! The only way to do them is if she is watching Backyardigans. BUT, all in all, she is doing very well. The doctor doesn't think that she will scar or have to do skin graftings, but we won't know for sure until it heals a little bit more. We go next week for another appointment. I still can't believe she was burned so bad from a door! That is crazy! Anyway, thanks everyone for all your love and support. We will give you another update soon!

Burns

Today turned out to be a horrible day. I took Sammi to her music class that she has on Thursday mornings at my friend Hillary's house. After class was done, she was playing outside and went up to their back door. Their back door is painted black and because it was so hot outside, the door burned her. She put both of her hands on the door and was leaning on it to see if it would push open. Once she realized it was hot, she tried to push herself away from the door, but she couldn't and got burned really bad. She started screaming and I ran over and yanked her from the door. Then she became hysterical. My friend, Hillary, felt so bad (don't feel bad Hillary, it was just an accident). We took her inside to try and run her hands under cold water. She was screaming so bad and didn't want to be held. She just laid in a heap on the kitchen floor. I didn't know what to do and starting crying, too. We tried to give her a cool rag to put on her hands, but she didn't want it. Hillary gave her some children's Ibuprofen hoping to help her with the pain. Her palms were bright red and she had a blister forming on her right hand. I called Kyle and told him what had happened (luckily he was home and hadn't started his new job yet). I took her home and called her doctor. Sammi was still hysterical and screaming. She was in so much pain she didn't know what to do. Her doctor told me to bring her in immediately so he could treat the burns. We took her to her pediatrician and the experience just got worse. Kyle and I had to hold her down while they broke the blisters, cut the burned skin off, washed the new skin clean, and apply ointment. Then they had to wrap both hands up with gauze. She looks like she has boxing gloves on. The process took about 50 minutes and Sammi was screaming so bad the entire time that she was shaking. It was horrible. I was crying with her and felt so helpless. All I could do was try and comfort her during the process. The doctor told us that she has to wear her mits until Monday. Then I have to go back so they can look at the burns and bandage her up again. She will then have to wear them for another 4-5 days. We took Sammi home and she just kept staring at her hands. She didn't know what to think of her bandages. And the worse part is that she won't really be able to play with her toys, feed herself, or pick things up until they are off. It was a horrible experience, especially as a parent. It is so hard to watch your child in pain and know there is nothing you can do about it.

Chicken Little

Sammi LOVES the movie Chicken Little. Whenever I put it on for her, she will get so excited and just laugh! She likes watching the big pig and thinks he is so funny. This is her watching Chicken Little in her room. I know, it's pretty sad when your 16 month old already has a favorite movie.

Chapman Family Reunion

Every year, we go to Kyle's family reunion down in Fountain Green. It is a blast! We camp at this awesome ranch and have lots of fun. There is horseback riding, four wheeling, water fights, slip & slides, and more. This was Sammi's first year camping and I think she did okay. I won't lie, camping with a one year old is not that fun, but we tried to make it as fun as possible. She loved playing will all the cousins, especially Ammon and Jace.

Spots

A few weeks ago, Sammi was running a fever and we noticed she had some spots on her back. We thought maybe it was heat rash and would go away. But it got worst! She ended up having spots all over her body. She didn't know what to think of them. She would just look at herself and touch the spots. She must of thought it was weird having little red dots all over her. After a couple of days, they went away. We have no idea what they were, but they came and went.

4th of July

We went to the Centerville City 4th of July parade. Sammi had fun through about half of it. Then she was ready to explore and walk around. So I ended up chasing her through the crowds of people so she wouldn't get away. All in all, it was a fun day.

Okay, I thought it was about time that I updated our blog. It has been one of the craziest months for us. Sammi is now 16 months and walking like crazy! She has been walking for about a month now. Her vocabulary has grown and has included mama, dada, go, good, bye-bye, night-night, nana (banana), and apple. Kyle has recently changed employment. He has been working for Russon Brothers for about 3 years and they decided that they didn't need him anymore and let him go. This was a really hard thing for us, especially since he bent over backwards for them and they always told him he was one of their best employees. But, he is now starting to work for the post office in SLC and will be making more than what he was at Russon Brothers. Also, he will have a more flexible schedule in case he decides to interview for other jobs or go back to school for his Masters Degree. We are discussing both options. So, I guess this was a blessing in disguise. Kyle also sprained his knee a month ago. The doctor was concerned that he might have dislocated his kneecap, but we are optimistic that he didn't. I am still just trying to keep on top of things and all the changes that has happened. So, the past couple of months haven't been the best for us, but hopefully things will improve.

A couple of weeks ago, we went hiking with Kyle's family on a Monday night. It was the perfect weather and Sammi loved being outside. We hiked above his parent's home to a cave that had Indian paintings. It was a fun adventure.

Mother's Day

I know it is way past Mother's Day, but I haven't had the chance to update our blog. Sorry everyone! This has been my second Mother's Day since Sammi came into our lives. Because of her, they have become very special days for me. I love being a mother. It is the hardest job I have ever done, but well worth it. And days when Sammi is screaming because she is getting her back molars in (and I want to just cry, too) I can look back at this day and think of the good moments. I hope all you mothers out there had a very special day.

Race for the Cure

Kyle's mom is a breast cancer survivor of 13 years. On Saturday, we ran the 5k breast cancer race with his parents. It was really fun. We took Sammi in the stroller and she had a blast watching all the people. And when I say all the people, I mean the thousands of people that were there. It was a special moment to see all these people racing for those who have passed away from breast cancer and those who have survived it. After the race, they had a parade for the survivors and they all marched out according to how many years they have survived. It was a beautiful tribute and we were so thankful we could go and support Kyle's mom. She is such a blessing in our lives and we are so grateful she is a survivor. She is such a kind and caring woman. She always has a positive outlook on life and will support you with whatever you are doing. She already has been an important person in Samantha's life and she loves her so much. We love you Grandma!

Thanks Goodness for Grandmas

Sammi loves her Grandmas and thinks they are the best. She gets to go to their houses and play and they always have snacks. What more could she want!
We were over at Grandma Worsley's house the other day and Sammi was having a blast playing with her. At first they were playing hide and go seek. Sammi would bury her head in the floor and wait for Grandma to hide. Then she would look for her and laugh so hard when she found her. Eventually, Sammi discovered the bag of newspapers and was laughing while she was taking them out. We had never seen her laugh so hard. It could have been the fact that it was way past her bed time and she was what my dad calls "punchy". Either way, she had so much fun with Grandma.

Daddy's Birthday Part 2

Daddy's Birthday

It was Kyle's birthday last Friday. To celebrate, Sammi made him a birthday card (well, I helped). In it, she listed the top 10 things she loves about her daddy. Some on the list included him chasing her around the living room, teaching her silly faces, and letting her play with his cell phone so she can call all sorts of people (including our bishop). She is such a nut, but we love her anyway!

Well, here are pictures of the park again. We have found out that Sammi loves the park so much that she hates it when we leave. She loves to swing, swing, and swing! It makes her just smile and laugh. We discovered this cool park by the old 5-Points mall. It has the best baby swings around and she just loves it. Anyway, we decided to plop her down in the grass and take some pictures. She didn't quite know what to think of the grass, but soon was eating it. We had to pry it out of her mouth. She's such a goof!

We have discovered that Sammi loves going to the park. We took her a couple of times the past week and she couldn't get enough. She loved swinging.....

Sammi and I were really sick all week. We both had a cough, runny nose, and sore throat. Poor Sammi just wanted to be held and didn't want to play with any of her toys. Sometimes she would just lie on the floor and fall asleep. I felt so bad for her. Luckily, she is feeling better.

Easter 2008

We had a beautiful Easter this year. Sammi wore her new Easter dress to church and we had a lot of fun looking for our Easter baskets. Then we went and visited Grandma & Grandpa Lindeman.

On Easter morning, Sammi was so busy playing with her toys from her birthday that she didn't want to go find her Easter basket. We finally had to pull her away from them.

For Samantha's 1st birthday, we got her pictures done at Kiddie Kandids. She ended up crying most of the time because she was scared of the stage they put her on. Sammi is ever so curious. Sometimes when we have the TV on, she likes to pull herself up on the entertainment center and see what is going on. Sammi just recently learned how to say "mama", but still prefers to say "dada". I think I posted on the blog before that I try to get her to say "mama", but she always just looks at me and says "dada". Well, today we actually caught it on video. The first part of the video she is being silly by blowing air out of her cheeks. The video turned out darker than I had hoped because of the lighting coming from the window. But it is still funny!

Sammi is 11 months. Time just flies by and soon she will be a year old. I can't believe it! Here are a few things she has learned recently. A few weeks ago, she started to really crawl. She has been army crawling for the past 3 months. She has finally mastered the form of crawling, but still prefers army crawling. Probably because she is faster at it. She loves to get around and has just learned how to pull herself up. She will pull herself up on anything she can-boxes, our couch, her crib, chairs, and me. She also has learned how to pull herself up and roam along the couch. I bet in a few months she will be walking! Sammi loves to pull herself up in her crib-to mom's chagrin. When she is supposed to be sleeping, she will pull herself up and cry at the door so I will come get her. This is a daily battle we go through because she fights taking a nap and will just cry. Unfortunatly for her, I am a stickler on naps and won't go get her. I will just put her back down and pat her back, which she hates because she wants me to pick her up. She will fight taking her nap for about 30 minutes and I have learned that she has a stubborn streak in her. Other than that, she is a ball to have around. She loves playing with her daddy and still says dada all the time. I try to get her to say mama, but she just looks at me and says dada. She has learned to clap her hands and also throw her arms up in the air (which we call "touchdown"). She also has learned to point at what she wants and wave good-bye. She loves being on the move and hates sitting still--especially in church. Lately she has become more aware of strangers and is very shy around new people. She will just bury her head in my shoulder. We get a kick out of it. She is still very curious about everything and loves to explore new things.

Christmas 2007

Part 1: The Worsley Christmas Party

Every year, we go to the Worsley Christmas party with all of Kyle's siblings and their kids. We have dinner, a program, play games, and open our exchange gift. For the program, the kids usually dress up and act out the nativity scene. Sammi's cousin who is a week older, Jace, was baby Jesus. After the program, we played a white elephant game. Sammi won an Easy Bake Oven. We had a lot of fun.

These are all the grandkids who participated in the Christmas program. They are sitting with Great-Grandma Chapman.

Part 2: Christmas Eve at Doug and Crystal's house

My family went to my brother Doug's house for Christmas Eve. We had dinner and played games. Later, Sammi and her cousin Avery changed into their Christmas pajamas.

Part 3: Christmas Morning

We opened presents Christmas morning. Sammi was so excited that she kept waiving her hands and arms. She got lots of toys, a new outfit, and socks and tights for Christmas. She loved her toys and wanted to play with them.

This is our Christmas tree. Every year we get a new ornament to add to the tree. This year, we got a baby ornament for Sammi for her first Christmas.

Samantha is 9 months old. Time has really gone by fast. She recently cut her first tooth. This has been a painful process and one that has made her pretty fussy for about a month. She is still army crawling and is on the verge of really crawling. She gets on her hands and knees and just rocks back and forth. Every time we think she is going to crawl, she just gets back down on her tummy and goes. We think she will figure it out sometime soon. She loves to imitate the sounds you make. If you do a squeel, she will make the same noise back to you. She then waits for you to repeat it to her. It is her favorite game. She also does this with many other sounds including a razz, whoo, and dadadada. Her new thing is clicking her tongue and having you repeat it. She loves to say dada and does it constantly. I try to have her say mama, but she just gives me this look and says dada (even though I am the one she cries for). When she is upset and wants me, she calls me nunun. It is her version of mama. Sammi has also learned how to do peek-a-boo. When she is bundled in her car seat with her blanket, she will cover her face until you say peek-a-boo. Then she will put it down and just smile. She loves to do it over and over.
Sammi is such a busy body and hates to sit still. She is constantly on the go trying to find new things to search and explore. She has been such a light to our lives and definitly keeps things hopping.

December 17th was our wedding anniversary. It has been 8 years! I can't believe it! To celebrate, we went to see the lights on Temple Square. It was really cold and we had to make sure Sammi was really bundled up. She loved all the Christmas lights! She would just stare at them. We had a blast.

Bear Lake Trip

On the week of Thanksgiving we went to Bear Lake for a little vacation. Our neighbors have a timeshare and they let us use it. We went up on Monday and came home on Thanksgiving day. We had a blast! It was so nice to just get away and have some quality family time. We took Sammi swimming and she had so much fun. She would just laugh when Daddy pushed her around in her floating device. We also went to the beach of Bear Lake and took some pictures. It was really cold and windy up there. Most of the time we just relaxed by watching movies, playing games, and having fun with Sammi. It was one of the most relaxing and fun vacations we have been on.

6th Month Pictures

My sister, Laura, was in town last week with her son, Elijah. My family decided to have pictures taken of the three grandkids at Kiddie Kandids. So my mom, sister-in-law, and I went shopping a few weeks ago to get matching outfits. The day of pictures came and it was a nightmare. We were there for 3 hours and all the grandkids were so cranky. Sammi pretty much screamed the whole time because she was tired and hungry. Plus it didn't help that she didn't like the girl who was taking the pictures. We were supposed to have a picture of all three grandkids together, but that didn't happen. We finally had to do individual pictures. Sammi eventually fell asleep on my shoulder and that is how we got any pictures of her. What a day! Even though it was three hours of torture, her pictures turned out pretty cute.

We have been experimenting with giving Sammi different kinds of baby foods. So far, she loves applesauce, sweet potato, bananas, and carrots. These pics are the first time I gave her sweet potatos. She was such a mess when I was done.
A little fact for my family members out there, Sammi HATES green beans. I was brave and fed them to her the other night. She was so disgusted that she gagged on them. Like mother, like daughter. (For those of you who are not family members, I have been known and teased all my life for hating green beans).

Sammi has these funny pajamas that she got from her Aunt Crystal. They say "hop into bed" and they have these little frogs on them. We put them on her for the first time a couple of weeks ago and thought she looked hilarious. Here are the pics.

The Spike
When Sammi was born, she had this tuft of hair on top of her head that was really long. She had some hair on the sides and in the back, but most of it has fallen out. She still has her little "mohawk" on top and one day I decided to spike it for fun. It was actually the day of my sister, Val's, birthday. We have a picture of her saying Happy Birthday to Aunt Val.

Over the weekend, we took a little trip to Logan and stayed in a bed and breakfast. It was nice to get away from everything for a little while. We took Sammi and she had a fun time. She especially loved splashing in the Jacuzzi tub that we had in our room. It was a nice little trip.

Last week, I was getting Sammi ready to go run some errands. I bought this fun little skirt for her and she was wearing it. I stuck her in her crib while I was getting ready and she looked so cute that I had to take some pictures. What can I say, the kid is too cute for words!

A couple of weeks ago, we gave Sammi rice cereal for the first time. She didn't quite know what to think of it and had a hard time keeping it in her mouth. Overall, I think she did pretty good for tasting baby food for the first time. Another milestone has been reached!
Some updates on Sammi. She has been known to giggle once or twice, but the other night she was laughing at Kyle. He was changing her diaper and was making funny noises at her that she thought were hilarious. She just kept laughing at him. It was hilarious and I caught it on video.
Sammi has also discovered how to make a very high pitch squeal. We were out and about today and she was making that noise constantly. She loves to hear it. She is getting more fun everyday. She has also learned to grab her feet and suck on her toes. We are trying to encourage her to roll over, but so far she has only done it a couple of times. We went to the doctor the other day and she is over 12 lbs and 24 inches. She is in the tenth percentile for height, weight, and head measurements. That is a lot better than under the fifth percentile of her last visit. She is still small, but growing.

Well, I finally took some pictures of Sammi in her beautiful baby blessing dress. And she finally fits into it! When we blessed her in May, it was so big that it almost fell off her. She looks gorgeous in it. I experimented with the black & white and sepia tones. Enjoy.
